Resin Flooring Cost Guide for Commercial Projects

Updated 2026 · UK commercial & industrial pricing

How much does a resin floor cost?

For UK commercial and industrial projects, resin flooring typically costs £35–£120 per m² installed. A simple two-coat epoxy seal on a sound concrete slab sits at the lower end. A heavy-duty polyurethane screed for a food-production environment, or a decorative flake or quartz finish for a showroom, sits toward the upper end.

The honest answer to "how much does it cost to resin a floor?" is that price is driven less by the resin itself and more by three things: the condition of the substrate, the system specified, and the scale of the area.

Typical price bands by system

  • Epoxy floor coating (250–500 microns): £35–£55 per m². Best for warehouses, plant rooms and light traffic.
  • Self-smoothing epoxy (2–3 mm): £55–£85 per m². Seamless, hygienic finish for workshops, retail and labs.
  • Decorative flake or quartz system: £65–£95 per m². Showrooms, automotive, hospitality.
  • Polyurethane screed (6–9 mm): £85–£120 per m². Food and drink production, cold stores, commercial kitchens.

The three variables that move the price

1. Substrate preparation

Resin only performs as well as the surface beneath it. Shot-blasting or diamond-grinding to achieve the correct profile adds roughly £8–£15 per m². Crack repair, joint detailing, ramp-outs to drains, and a damp-proof membrane for high-moisture slabs each carry their own cost. Skipping prep is the single most common reason a resin floor fails early.

2. Resin system type — epoxy vs polyurethane

Epoxy is harder and cheaper, but more brittle and less tolerant of thermal shock. Polyurethane is more flexible, handles steam-clean and chemical exposure, and lasts longer in punishing environments. For a busy production kitchen the polyurethane spend pays back in whole-life cost.

3. Scale-based efficiency

Mobilisation, preparation plant, supervision and out-of-hours working are largely fixed costs. A 2,000 m² warehouse can come in significantly under the per-m² rate of a 50 m² unit, because those fixed costs are spread across more area. Phased works, restricted access and night shifts push the rate the other way.

What's included in a fair quote

  • Site survey and moisture testing of the existing slab.
  • Mechanical preparation to the correct surface profile.
  • Primer, body coats and seal coat from a named system.
  • Detailing to drains, coves, expansion joints and thresholds.
  • Manufacturer-backed warranty and aftercare guidance.

If a quote is materially cheaper than the bands above, check what has been left out — usually preparation, primer, or warranty.
